This month's theme:
We are not here on this planet to preach love or to teach love. We are here to love! The best way we can experience newness of life in the new year is to love others. As we give it away to others through our actions and what we say, love will heal us and flow through us to bring healing to those around us. Don't preach it. Live it!!
Prayers for this month:
God, we pray for the peace and safety of our neighbourhoods. Please help everyone to live with respect to others and really care for each other lovingly. May those who are a threat to themselves or others get the help they need. Give wisdom to neighbours to see the warning signs and look out for one another. Help those in charge to make our neighbourhoods safe places for everyone including our children. May they put the laws and policies in place to keep our streets, our schools and day cares safe places for all.
God, we pray that cities provide proper shelters and warming centers for the homeless. Grant those in charge the wisdom to know what has to be done to provide for the needs of the homeless. Help them to solve the opioid crisis and provide safe places for those addicted. Help them to find ways to provide treatment for more of those addicted.
God, help our government to better provide for our war vets. Guide those in charge the wisdom to put into action better policies dictating their treatment. May all vets and their families, including those bereaved get the financial, medical and emotional help they need. May there always be respect for those men and women who have served for our country.
Scriptures and meditations:
1 John 4: 7. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Psalm 86:15. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
Galations 3: 28. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 139: 1-18. You know everything about me, my innermost cravings, yet you still love me! If I went to the farthest place from you, or hid in the darkest of the depths, your love would find me, your presence would come to me and not leave me alone. And your will is always to rescue me and woo me back to your side!
More to come!!
